SYBILLE MELLENTHIN

After two decades of intensive work, the painter Sybille Mellenthin is now presenting her extensive past and future work to the international public.

Her painting is unique and recognizable in all stages of development of the last two decades.

The works signed with Sybillum have so far been shown exclusively in her two own galleries in Arta on Mallorca and in Seville.

In order to be able to paint to the maximum, the artist, who was born in Stuttgart in 1965, lives a largely secluded life in her various residences.

After completing her studies, Sybille Mellenthin initially worked successfully for ten years as a freelance author and producer of her own storyboards and screenplays. Her narrative style has remained unchanged since her transition to painting: her neo-expressionist figures move through abstract visual worlds, many of which address social, political, and religious themes.

The artist draws her inspiration primarily from the luminous nature around her studios in Berlin, Stuttgart and Mallorca, and her deep faith in God.

She alternates between working at easels on her sometimes large-format, vibrantly colorful oil paintings. Or she sits at her expansive painting tables, on which she "writes" her tempera paintings or captures her "painted narratives" on paper.

The viewer encounters landscapes, buildings, animals and people, some of which are clearly visible, others of which appear abstract.

Captivated by the variety of colors and shapes, the abstract and figurative elements, he tries to decipher the visual power, to fathom secrets and to read the stories that Sybille Mellenthin describes with color.

Like a tableau, the image details show us individual scenes from these stories. Harmonious color and formal elements alternate with disruptive and daring elements. Thus, Sybille Mellenthin's images reflect the dynamics of every life, of nature, and our environment, from which these stories originate.

In the two decades of her work, Sybille Mellenthin has developed many new techniques that blend into many of her works.

A book is currently being created from her thoughts and theories about painting, which the artist continually develops and records in writing and sketches.
